Princess Charlotte’s birthday portraits compared to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry snaps
Elsewhere, the images released to celebrate Charlotte’s milestone appear to have caused a stir on social media. And not for all good reasons.
Responding to a video made by the creator ‘@kateisobsessedwithmeghan’ on TikTok, Royal Journalist ‘@royalreporterlydia’ has called out claims that the Wales family copied a couple of snaps of the Sussexes.
The creator first compared the birthday snap of Charlotte rocking a striped jumper, stood against a backdrop of trees and greenery, as a copy of Harry and Meghan’s December 2025 Christmas card.
TikTokker ‘@kateisobsessedwithmeghan’ alleged that the Wales emulated the image in a bid to recreate Harry and Meghan’s “Montecito aesthetic”.
The creator also claimed that the image of Princess Charlotte embracing her precious pooch whilst sat on a boat, was very similar to the image shared of Meghan Markle holding Princess Lilibet whilst sat on a speedboat to celebrate the young princess’s birthday last year.
“The whole of this week, every photo that the Wales family have put out on their Instagram, has all been based and replicated, copied. They have copied it from the Sussexes. They have literally gone on her Instagram account, Meghan’s, and they have gone back through all her photos that they did for Lilibet’s birthday and they have also copied the Christmas card photo.
Wales family ‘slammed’ over Princess Charlotte snap
Speaking of the image of Charlotte holding her dog, the creator said: “Just look at it, it screams Meghan.”
They went on to say: “Either William and Kate are copying Harry and Meghan because they know how popular they are, two they are either doing it to annoy them because they want a reaction or three, they are having to try and get that Sussex brand styling look.”
Royal observers also chimed in in the comment section, with many agreeing.
“The wales’s have no originality,” penned one.
“Meghan is living rent free in William and Kate’s mind,” added another.
“The copycat family,” said a third.
Royal Journalist Lydia Alty has also shared her own thoughts.
Responding to @kateisobsessedwithmeghan’s video, Lydia Alty described the claims as a “shambles”.
She said: “What on earth is she comparing? Like, one child is getting on a speedboat, like you would at the beach and another child is getting on a speedboat like you would at the beach if you had money. What is the difference? How is that copying?”
“Children across the UK get on speedboats, it is not copyrighted to just Meghan and Harry,” she went on to say.
Representatives for Harry and Meghan and Kensington Palace have been contacted for comment.

‘Change’ in Princess Charlotte’s behaviour during public events
Prince William and Catherine mostly keep Princess Charlotte, alongside her siblings George 12, and Louis, eight, out of the royal spotlight. However, as they’re getting older, they’re being seen more and more at public events.
They usually attend big events throughout the year, including the Easter Sunday service, Trooping the Colour, Wimbledon and the royals’ Christmas Day walkabout.
One royal commentator recently spotted a change in Charlotte’s behaviour in public.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond praised Charlotte’s confidence following last year’s Christmas Day walkabout.

The royal family step out on Christmas morning to attend church. After, they embark on a walkabout to greet people who have gathered.
Jennie told the Mirror: “The children are an absolute delight to see at occasions like this. I think William and Catherine have done a wonderful job in acclimatising all three children to public life. I was struck, in particular, by how confident young Charlotte seemed on Christmas Day.”
She added: “She was launching into the crowd by herself, no longer with her mother’s guiding hand on her shoulder, chatting with the well-wishers who’d gathered, bending down to shake hands with wheelchair users, and even giving one or two members of the crowd a big hug.”
