Kate Middleton’s personal assistant has reportedly left her role at Kensington Palace – said to be a brutal blow for the Princess of Wales.

Natasha Archer began working for Kate and William in 2010. She was so integrated into their inner circle and so close to the princess, Natasha was even dubbed her unofficial stylist.

A commentator has claimed it must feel like a “divorce” for the royal after the many years they’ve worked together. Natasha has been at Kate’s side as her personal assistant for major events and family milestones.

Personal assistant to Kate Middleton and Prince William leaves role

Nicknamed ‘Tash’ by her royal employers, Natasha joined the fold 15 years ago. Her most recent title has been as the senior private executive assistant to the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Not only was Natasha said to be Princess Kate’s right-hand woman, she was even said to be instrumental when it came to curating Kate’s wardrobe for royal engagements.

Especially on royal tours, where Kate’s change of outfits could be extremely in intense, like during visits to Australia and New Zealand, where Kate wore 24 outfits in 19 days.

Inadvertently, Natasha made a huge contribution to the so-called ‘Kate Middleton Effect’ – a phenomenon of garments selling out after the princess wears them.

The Kate Middleton Effect is estimated to contribute nearly £1 billion a year to the U.K economy. All the while, Natasha has helped Kate curate her style from girl-next-door to chic princess.

One significant moment where Natasha helped the Waleses with their style was when she persuaded William to wear a traditional sherwani to a 2019 reception in Pakistan during their royal tour.

Natasha also reportedly worked with Kate to upcycle many of her dresses. Consequently, the princess notably rented a striking green dress from the rental platform HURR for the Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston in 2022.

Natasha has traveled the world alongside the princess and ensured she was well looked after. Even joining her on a gruelling five-hour hike in Bhutan in 2016 in case she needed a change of clothes.

According to People, is looking to pursue a new business venture away from the palace.

What does Kate Middleton’s personal assistant do?

The news likely comes as a surprise to royal observers, considering Natasha fulfils an integral role for the royals. In 2022, Natasha was promoted to senior private executive assistant.

According to reports, her LinkedIn profile details how her role encompasses managing “clothing, diary and projects.” Natasha has even been honoured with the Royal Victorian Order for her dedicated service to the royal household.

Who could be the next one in line? Rumours are looking to Virginia Chadwyck-Healy (Ginnie). The duo have crossed paths at the University of St Andrews and she knows Kate so well she was invited to her royal wedding.

It wouldn’t be a shock to the system, as Ginnie stepped in when Natasha was on maternity leave in 2019.

Others believe that Kate’s mother Carole could be hinting she’s taking up the role. Carole was seen wearing a Beulah London stripe dress during a recent outing, which Ginnie mentioned on her social media.

Natasha Archer leaving Kate Middleton’s side as personal assistant is a ‘blow’ for the royal

Liz Jones wrote in the Daily Mail that it must feel like a ‘body blow’ for the royal after the tough 18 months she’s had battling cancer.

“When you need every ounce of strength, every inch of confidence to step out onto the world stage,” your ‘closest friend’ leaves your side.

She added: “Catherine will have been nervous on so many occasions, not least appearing in public for the first time after her treatment for cancer. Natasha will have acted as a counsellor, someone to lean on, as well as being able to adapt to the princess’s shape and mood.”

Liz went on to say to lose Natasha will be ‘tough’ for the royal as she slowly returns into the royal fold.

Royal Insider has contacted Kensington Palace for comment.
