Obstacle Prince George will face before he's king, royal expert predicts
Things may be a lot different when George comes of agePrince George may never be king, a former BBC royal correspondent claimed when discussing what we will see in the future of the royal family.
The 12-year-old prince is second in line to the throne behind his father Prince William and grandfather King Charles.
His parents reportedly sat the young royal down around his seventh birthday to explain the role that the future holds for him. While mum Kate is said to be ‘leading the charge’ in teaching a young Prince George what to be like when he will unlikely face his destiny as king.
However, according to the journalist, George may never get to wear the crown.

Why will Prince George of Cambridge never be king?
Speaking to the Express, Christopher Lee said that many different factors might come into play when the time comes for George to take the throne.
And one of those factors is the popularity of the monarchy.
“Voting for a monarchy is supporting an institution. Voting for the Sovereign is quite a different X-factor,” Lee said.
He went on to say that the popularity of the monarchy and the royal family might be at very different levels when the time comes and Prince George will be king.

Lee also added that other alterations to “great institutions” in the future might lead to further obstacles for the young prince. With changes already made to the House of Lords, there could be other constitutional bodies who do the same.
Lee went on to say that more and more countries may be likely to remove our King as their head of state in the future – like Barbados removing the late Queen.

Prince George’s title when William becomes king
When the day comes for William to take the throne in the future, he will likely become King William – unless he chooses to rule under a different name.
His title of the Prince of Wales will be ‘put on ice’ until he decides to bestow it upon another royal family member. Traditionally, it is the heir to the throne who holds the title. Similarly to how Charles was the Prince of Wales for most of his working royal life until he ascended to the throne in September 2022. As king, Charles decided to give the title to his son and daughter in law – the Princess of Wales.
It’s likely that William will follow suit, and bestow the Prince of Wales title to his son George.

However, there is no minimum age requirement to become the Prince of Wales, Charles was only 10 years old when Queen Elizabeth II granted it to him – and George is already 12.
If William was to take the throne when George is still young, he may choose to make him the Prince of Wales at a younger age than when he received it.
