Royal family's 'biggest concern' as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continue Netflix deal

Will Harry and Meghan move cause more "damage"?

King Charles’ former butler has shared what could be the royal family’s most significant worry after the announcement that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix deal will continue.

Reports have speculated in recent weeks that the Sussexes’ partnership with the streaming giant could end. However, earlier this week, Netflix announced that a new “multi-year, first-look deal” for film and TV projects was signed.

And then yesterday (Tuesday, August 12), the season 2 trailer for Meghan’s cooking show, With Love, Meghan, dropped. It’ll debut on Netflix later this month.

But amid such good news for Prince Harry and Meghan, royal pundit and ex-domestic worker Grant Harrold has pondered whether the Sussexes will continue to make bombshell claims about royal relatives.

What have Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said about their Netflix deal?

In a statement, Meghan Markle gushed: “We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand.”

She went on: “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”

A Christmas special of With Love, Meghan will also air later this year. Meanwhile, the deal includes plans for a documentary concerning the HIV and AIDS crisis in Uganda called Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within. Additionally, it includes the production of Meet Me at the Lake. It’s an adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling romance novel.

According to reports, the Sussexes feel glad the latest Netflix news has put rumours concerning the fate of their deal “to bed”.

An insider reportedly said: “The couple are pretty thrilled with the deal. It’s been a long time in the planning. They’re over the moon. It’s great to be able to continue making great programmes with Netflix.”

How will the royal family react to Netflix news?

Whether members of the royal family will feel as “thrilled” is not clear, however.

According to the Mirror, speaking on behalf of OLBG, Mr Harrold feels the Sussexes may be more restrained when it comes to their content and claims about The Firm.

Mr Harrold reckons: “I do think they will start being more careful not to cause further upset as they move into their future business ventures. If they cause any more damage with these programmes it will impact any on-going attempts to build bridges.”

“I think the royal family are beyond this now. I don’t think they’ll be surprised or disappointed by it. They’re used to them doing what they want now,” Mr Harrold reasoned.

Their biggest concern will be another tell-all documentary.

However, he also sounded a note of caution. Mr Harrold went on: “Their biggest concern will be another tell-all documentary on their fallouts with the family.”
