Moment Prince Harry was almost 'set up' with Kourtney Kardashian before he met Meghan Markle

Prince Harry and Kourtney Kardashian, two names you never thought you’d hear in the same sentence, were nearly set up on a date in 2016.
According to Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan, Prince Harry’s romantic path could’ve looked very different, involving none other than the eldest Kardashian sister.
Prince Harry was almost ‘set up’ with Kourtney Kardashian
Speaking to HELLO! magazine, Katherine recalled a celebrity gathering at fellow comic Jimmy Carr’s house in 2016, just months before Harry met Meghan Markle.
“I walked in and saw Kourtney Kardashian with Princess Beatrice,” she said. “I went straight over to her because I knew who she was. I’m so invested in the Kardashians and their reality show.”
Katherine couldn’t resist inserting herself into Kourtney’s love life, especially given Kourtney’s on-again, off-again drama with Scott Disick at the time.
“I said, ‘You need to leave Scott,'” the comedian recounted. “And she said, ‘How can I? He’s in my house right now.’ I told her, ‘Don’t go back to the house. You need to leave him.'”
As the conversation turned to dating, Kourtney asked Katherine who she could even date, and that’s when the actress made a surprising suggestion.
“Prince Harry, maybe? She was right there in the UK,” Katherine quipped. “It seemed obvious.”
Although Katherine may have been joking, she saw the logic in pairing two people from globally famous families. A Kardashian-Windsor crossover? That’s tabloid gold.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry had been open about the difficulty of dating as a royal.
In one interview a few years earlier in 2012, he told CBS News: “I’m 27 years old, and not so much searching for someone to fulfil the [royal] role, but obviously, you know, finding someone that would be willing to take it on.”
Whether Katherine ever mentioned the idea to Harry remains unclear. There’s no record or suggestion that Kourtney and Harry ever met.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship
Of course, the universe had other plans.
Within weeks or months of that star-studded party, Prince Harry was introduced to Suits actress Meghan Markle in July 2016.
The pair hit it off almost instantly.
In his memoir Spare, Harry revealed he first noticed Meghan through an Instagram photo with a dog-ear filter and was immediately intrigued.
Their matchmaker is widely believed to be Violet von Westenholz, a close friend of Harry’s. However, fashion designer Misha Nonoo’s name has also been floated.
That meeting changed royal history. By November 2017, the couple were engaged. In May 2018, they were married at Windsor Castle, in a ceremony watched by millions.
Meanwhile, Kourtney eventually found lasting love in the world of music, not monarchy. She began dating Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and the pair tied the knot in 2022. They welcomed their son, Rocky, in 2023.
Harry and Meghan now live in California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
