King Charles supports Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy following ‘humiliating’ meeting with Donald Trump
King Charles met President Zelenskyy at Sandringham on Sunday
King Charles has reaffirmed his unwavering support for Ukraine by warmly welcoming President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Sandringham House.
This visit comes just days after a tense encounter between the Ukrainian leader, 47, and US President Donald Trump, 78, at the White House.

President Zelenskyy ‘warmly received’ by King Charles at Sandringham
Zelenskyy, who is currently seeking continued international backing against Russian aggression, arrived by helicopter at Sandringham on Sunday, March 2, where he met the monarch, 76, for nearly an hour.
“The Ukrainian President was warmly received, and the meeting lasted just under an hour,” a royal source confirmed. “Prior to his visit to the UK, Mr Zelenskyy requested the meeting with His Majesty, and the government agreed for it to go ahead.”
The meeting took place in the Saloon room of Sandringham House.
Freshly brewed tea was served as the king and Zelenskyy sat on striped cushions against orange sofas. Behind them, a roaring fire cast a warm glow, with framed photos of The Queen Mother and Queen Camilla on display.

Zelenskyy’s meeting with Donald Trump
The Sandringham meeting comes in stark contrast to Zelenskyy’s recent visit to Washington. The Ukrainian leader faced a frosty and ‘humiliating’ reception from Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
Reports suggest that Trump and Vance berated and pressured Zelenskyy during discussions.

The Ukrainian President was warmly received, and the meeting lasted just under an hour.
Following footage of Trump telling Zelenskyy that his country is in “big trouble” and that he’s “not winning”, people online accused the president and vice president of “humilating” Zelenskyy.
However, Zelenskyy received a hero’s welcome in London.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to Ukraine. Speaking outside Downing Street, Starmer declared: “Three years on from Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, we are at a turning point. Now is the time for us to unite in order to guarantee the best outcome for Ukraine, protect European security, and secure our collective future.”

King Charles’ support for Ukraine
Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion, King Charles has been one of Ukraine’s most vocal royal supporters.
On the third anniversary of the war last month, the 76-year-old monarch issued a statement praising the “heroism and true valour” of the Ukrainian people.
“The determination and strength of the Ukrainian people continues to inspire, as the unprovoked attack on their land, their lives, and livelihoods enters a third, tragic year,” he said.
Charles has met Zelenskyy and his wife Olena multiple times. He has also visited Ukrainian refugee organisations to show solidarity.
Last year, Zelenskyy called the UK “one of Ukraine’s closest and most important allies”.
