King Charles forced to miss granddaughter Princess Charlotte's special day amid US state visit

The king and queen will travel to the United States on April 27 to April 30. Then, King Charles will travel alone to Bermuda from May 1 to 2.
But this means that he’s set to miss his granddaughter Princess Charlotte’s special day…

King Charles and Queen Camilla set for US state visit
This week, the palace announced King Charles and Queen Camilla’s US plans.
They announced that the state visit will take place at the end of April.
They are set to visit Washington to mark America’s 250th anniversary. July 4, 2026, will mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will then visit New York. Here they will highlight the modern UK-US relationship through culture, community and economic growth.
Then, they’ll visit Virginia where they will connect with local communities, heritage and culture.

Following this, King Charles will visit Bermuda alone. Here he will celebrate local creativity, biodiversity and youth opportunities. The palace said that the king will engage with people across a broad spectrum of island life.

The king set to miss granddaughter Princess Charlotte’s birthday
Due to his Bermuda trip, it means King Charles will miss his granddaughter Princess Charlotte’s 11 birthday.
Charlotte will turn 11 on May 2.

Many royal fans in the United States are getting ready to welcome the king and queen later this month.
US President Donald Trump also gushed about the state visit. Trump he looks “forward to spending time with the king, whom I greatly respect”. Trump added that the state visit will be “terrific”.
It came after a statement was issued by Buckingham Palace about the visit.

Why are Charles and Camilla visiting the US?
The statement read: “On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America.
“Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.
“The King will then continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory.”
Relations between Trump and King Charles have remained warm over the years. Last September, Trump visited the UK for a second state visit alongside his wife, First Lady Melania Trump.
The king hosted the Trumps in Windsor and it was a lavish affair!
