Prince William's 'words' to brother Harry at Philip's funeral service caught on camera amid the height of their royal rift
The brothers reunited publicly at their grandfather's funeralPrince William was seen whispering to his brother Harry at their grandfather’s funeral amid their rift, it was once claimed.
The brothers attended Prince Philip’s funeral on April 17, 2021. The service was a lowkey affair due to COVID-19 restrictions. Harry flew over from the US to attend.
However, it came at a tense time as William and Harry’s reported rift was seemingly at an all-time high. Just weeks before Philip’s death on April 9, Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive Oprah interview aired.
In the tell-all chat, which aired in March 2021, the couple detailed their experience within the royal family. The interview came just a year after they decided to step back from being working royals.

Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview before Prince Philip’s death
In the interview, Harry and Meghan made several accusations. Shockingly, they claimed that there had been “concerns and conversations” shared by a family member about “how dark” their son Archie’s skin would be when he was born.
Prince Harry even claimed that he had been cut off financially from his family in the “first quarter” of 2020.
He also expressed that King Charles and Prince William were “trapped within the system” of the royal family.
The interview sent shockwaves through the palace. At the time, the palace released a statement expressing Queen Elizabeth II’s views on the interview. It read: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
Since then, Harry and Meghan’s relationship with his family has been strained. It’s believed William and Harry aren’t even on speaking terms.

William’s ‘words’ to Harry at Philip’s funeral
At their grandfather’s funeral service, William and Harry looked distant.
However, after the service in Windsor, the brothers were seen talking to each other briefly.
According to the Express at the time, lip readers claimed that Harry told William that the funeral service “was as he wanted,” referring to their grandfather.
William reportedly replied: “Yes, it was great, wasn’t it.”
The entire service ended without any hint of connection between them.
Meanwhile, according to a body language expert recently, William’s wife Catherine, Princess of Wales, stepped in at the funeral to seemingly calm the tension between the brothers.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Judi James said: “While the world waited and watched, hoping that their grandfather’s death might maybe broker some kind of truce prompted by grief between William and Harry, the entire service ended without any hint of connection between them.
“It was as the royals were leaving though and walking back up the hill in a more casual formation that Kate very firmly and deftly took control of the situation.”
How Kate ‘took control’ of rift between William and Harry
Following the service, Kate was seen walking alongside Harry as they spoke. According to Judi, she then took “firm charge” and appeared to “steer” Harry “into place beside William”.
In the “most poignant” move, Judi said Kate then “steps back to allow them to walk and chat alone”.
