Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's ex-girlfriend on being single mum to his first child before he met wife Princess Beatrice
Edoardo 'Edo' fell madly in love with Beatrice the same year he split with his ex...You may know Edoardo ‘Edo’ Mapelli Mozzi from when he walks hand-in-hand with wife Princess Beatrice, but did you know he was engaged before, to his ex-girlfriend? The couple split months before he was introduced to the royal, and the rest is history.
The property developer, who founded real estate firm Banda in 2007, has become a part of the royal family. Often seen at Beatrice’s side at royal events, we take a look back at Edo’s life before he met his very own princess.

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was engaged to his ex-girlfriend
Edo and his ex, American architect and designer, were together for three years. They started dating in 2018, and were engaged, but decided to part ways in 2018.
The couple established shared custody of their son as Huang divides her time between London and Hong Kong for work.
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi met future wife Beatrice the same year he broke up with his ex-girlfriend, although they knew about each other’s family first before the introduction. By the end of the year they were officially dating, and Edo proposed in September 2019.
The duo tied the knot the following year in a low-key ceremony during the Covid pandemic.

Dara Huang on ‘difficult’ split with Edo
In June 2025, Edo’s ex opened up on the difficulty of the break-up with the property developer. She also spoke about moving to the UK and being a single mum to her son after they split.
She wrote on Instagram at the time: “I still remember being 26, newly arrived in London, is when I first laid my eyes on a pair of knee-high grey Stuart Weitzman boots. They’d been accidentally left behind in the upstairs attic by the tenant before me—tucked inside that unforgettable, iconic blue box.
“I wasn’t in a position to afford them (I had nothing but student loans), and they weren’t my size (unfortunately), but I remember just staring at them, thinking this was the perfect boot. Sleek, confident, elegant.
“Fast forward to 29—when I launched my own company. What I didn’t know, was that I’d spend the next 7 years pouring everything I had into it. No time, no extra money, certainly no ‘dream shoes.’
“Then came a difficult breakup… the moment I finally claimed the pay rise I’d long deserved… also finally seeing some payoff my growing business. I was a single mum with a baby, so nearly everything still went to my son—but finally, there was a bit of space for me too.”
She added: “This is just a reminder that if you focus on your purpose, lead with passion, stay optimistic, and work hard—it really does come full circle. And never ignore your intuition. It will get you far. I thank God every day for the grace to support those around me, and for the people who continue to lift me up in return. Amen.”

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi shares children with wife Beatrice and a first-born son with ex-girlfriend
Edo has three children, with his eldest that he shares with ex Dara. They welcomed Christopher Woolf (or Wolfie as they like to affectionately call him) in 2016. He is currently nine years old.
Beatrice became an instant stepmother to Wolfie and has gushed about being a part of his family. She called it a ‘great honour’ to be in his life.
Wolfie acted as a page boy and his father’s best man at Edo and Beatrice’s wedding.
Beatrice and Edo have two daughters, welcoming their first child in September 2021 – two years after they became in engaged. Sienna Elizabeth was named in tribute to the royal’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Their second daughter, Athena, was born in January 2025, premature. Beatrice later opened up about the ordeal gushing over how the tot has settled and is happy and healthy.
She penned a personal essay about the struggles parents face with preterm births.

Co-parenting bliss
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s ex-girlfriend opened up on co-parenting Edo’s first child with the developer and wife Beatrice.
Both sides have often gushed over the co-parenting dynamic that they share.
She told Harper’s Bazaar that she and Edo managed to co-parent in a positive way.
Dara said: “Wolfie has had two sets of parents trying to help him on both sides, and I just think, ‘The more, the merrier.
“I feel lucky to have such positive people around him, who really embrace him — because it didn’t have to be so easy.”
She added: “It’s all about your point of view. I don’t understand people who are divorced and then hold their children as collateral; that doesn’t make any sense. It’s about creating a happy home and lifestyle.”
There doesn’t seem to be any bad blood, as Dara also wished the couple well after their royal wedding. She said in a statement at the time: “I wish the best for Edo and Beatrice and look forward to uniting our families.”

Royal family debut
Wolfie even made a Christmas royal appearance in 2022, as he walked alongside Princess Beatrice and father Edo for his debut. He joined the other members of the royal family as they walked to the church service in Sandringham.
However, he also made an appearance at the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant that summer.
While he’s been snapped at the royal events, his parents choose to keep his face private from social media.
Edo will share pictures from behind to protect them online.
