Princess Anne’s hilarious no-nonsense reaction to the birth of Prince William
In June 1982, Princess Anne was put on the spot with the news that Prince William had been born, whilst she was undertaking an engagement in New Mexico.
The princess was seemingly unaware of the big update and, of course, she replied with with a quip that was so suited to her fuss-free nature.
When informed that Princess Diana had welcomed a son and asked about her thoughts, Princess Anne said: “I didn’t know she had one”.
Another journalist then chimed in, probing her for more information and asking Anne whether she felt there had been “too much fuss” surrounding the birth of the royal baby.
To that, Princess Anne simply retorted: “Yes”.
Where Princess Anne gets her fuss-free nature from
Princess Anne was known to share a close bond with her father, Prince Philip, whom shared similar views when it came to the monarchy.

Despite Anne’s seemingly cool and collected response to the birth of William, behind the scenes, she is said to let her hair down a little bit more.
She also shares a close bond with her relatives.

The Princess Royal, however, sees her unwavering focus on her job as a working royal as one of her “successes,” highlighting her no-nonsense nature.
“One of her biggest successes is that she’s never tried to overshadow Charles,” royal expert Katie Nicholl has previously said of Anne. “She has always just been there by his side as a pillar of strength, and she’s like a hybrid of Elizabeth and Prince Philip in being no-fuss, not overly emotional and just getting on with the job.”
