King Charles’s ‘unusual bedroom request’ explained

According to reports, King Charles “is extremely particular” when it comes to “what he rests his head on in the evenings,” as per Hello.

In fact, the publication claims he has a very specific and unusual bedroom essential in his list of requests.

Apparently, King Charles’s bedroom routine requires a “truckload of furniture,” to get him comfortable.

Allegedly, the monarch requires his own bed frame and linens when he visits friends. He is said to have an orthopaedic mattress and paintings of the Scottish Highlands shipped to his destination.

Royal biographer Tom Bower claimed in his book Rebel King that Charles “sent his staff ahead a day early with a truck carrying furniture to replace the perfectly appropriate fittings in the guest rooms.”

Bower alleges that the truck “contained nothing less than Charles and Camilla’s complete bedrooms.”

King Charles’s jaw-dropping expectations whilst travelling

King Charles is also said to bring his own toilet seat. Not only that, he is said to bring his own “Kleenex Premium Comfort lavatory paper,” when he travels.

Both bedrooms are also said to be equipped with “Laphroaig whiskey and bottled water”.

And the requests don’t end there…

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell has also opened up about King Charles.

He claims that the king has very specific expectations when it comes to taking a bath.

The king is said to prefer his baths “just tepid”. He also has the tub “half-full”. And even the plug has to be just right and “in a certain position”.

As penned in Marie Claire, royal biographer Tina Brown alleged in her book The Palace Papers that King Charles also expects a very specific menu, even on trips.

Charles’s very specific taste

Unlike the Queen [Elizabeth], who always ate what she was served, the prince stipulated his menu preferences upfront. And sometimes arrived at dinner with his protection officer bearing a martini premixed and ready to be handed to the butler and served in his own glass.”

Sophie Winkleman, also known as Lady Frederick Windsor, who is close to the royals, once discussed that although King Charles may have several bedroom requests, he is known to not sleep much.

She told Tatler that King Charles “works all day long, has a quick supper, and then disappears until about 4 a.m. to write letters.”

“The people who work for him are worried he is doing too much for a man of 75,” a source once claimed to The Telegraph.

“It’s sometimes a struggle to keep up with him.”
