The incident happened on WednesdayAndrew Mountbatten-Windsor was reportedly threatened by a man wearing a balaclava while walking his dogs near his new home on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, prompting a police response and an arrest.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor ‘threatened’ on Sandringham Estate
Reports suggest the man had been sitting inside a vehicle when he spotted the king’s brother roughly 50 yards away.
He allegedly got out of the car and approached Andrew while shouting at him. The encounter is understood to have happened on public land along a lane near Sandringham Royal Park.
Andrew, who was reportedly accompanied by a member of his private security team, is said to have run back towards his own vehicle before driving away from the scene as the suspect allegedly attempted to follow him.
Norfolk Police were called shortly afterwards. Officers attended the location, arrested a suspect and took him into custody for questioning. Police are also understood to have searched the suspect’s vehicle for possible weapons.

The episode is likely to renew discussion around the duke’s security arrangements. While the king is understood to be personally funding Andrew’s move to Norfolk and his new accommodation, he has reportedly declined to pay for private protection.
Andrew lost publicly funded police security after stepping back from royal duties in 2019, following a decision made during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.
A source told the newspaper: “This shows why Andrew’s security provisions need to be proportionate and properly balanced for an individual with a very high profile. Surely this demonstrates why his security should be reviewed.”

Police statement issued
In a statement, Norfolk Police said: “Officers were called to Wolferton shortly after 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 May 2026) following a report a man was behaving in an intimidating manner in the village. Officers attended, and the man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning and remains in custody.”
Surely this demonstrates why his security should be reviewed.

As per reports on May 8, Alex Jenkinson, 39, of Stowmarket, Suffolk, has been charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to harass someone or cause alarm or distress.
He has also been charged with failing to provide a specimen of blood in custody.
He is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on today, Friday, May 8.
The reported confrontation comes during a period of continuing scrutiny for Andrew. He remains under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on his 66th birthday in February.
He was later released under investigation after spending 11 hours at a Norfolk police station and has consistently denied wrongdoing.
Scrutiny against Andrew
He has faced years of scrutiny over his past association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
HIs arrest came after the release of millions of Epstein files in January. Within these files, emails allegedly showed Andrew sharing sensitive and confidential information with Epstein during his time as UK’s trade envoy.
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.
The latest incident also follows recent reports that his daughter, Princess Eugenie, is expecting her third child with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
